Paul Coia
Paul Coia is a television presenter and continuity announcer who was the first voice on Channel 4. His broadcasting career kicked off in 1981, with his own local radio show followed by a chat series for Scottish Television. This was followed by work for both BBC 1 and BBC 2 on a variety of programmes including The Holiday Programme, Pebble Mill At One, Garden Party and Tricks Of The Trade.
Paul's television achievements include opening Channel Four as the first voice on air and winning awards for interviewing on Pebble Mill At One and for BBC 2's long running Catchword quiz show. Currently Paul is working on formats for new programmes following the success of the quiz show The Enemy Within which he devised for BBC 1 and which has been piloted by Sony in America. The BBC have just optioned a new idea of his called It's All Mine. He is a contributor to Glasgow's Radio Clyde with which he became Scottish Radio Personality Of The Year. He is also a contributor to London's Smooth Radio. He runs his own communication and training company, Pow'r Communication, which teaches business leaders and executives the art of Presentation and Media Handling and is currently working with many financial companies training executives. Blinded by the stardust of airless conference rooms, the glitter of middle of the night rehearsals and the charm of no food for days on end, he moved on to conferences, videos, exhibitions, satellite links and product launches for blue chip companies around the world. These include names such as British Airways, Credit Suisse, Johnsson & Johnsson, Philips or Unilever, to name just a few. Paul has been hosting conferences for twenty years since, as a member of BBC's Holiday '87 team, he was invited to facilitate in Athens at the Thomas Cook world sales conference. Paul has been traveling the globe hosting conferences for many companies in the medical, financial and IT sectors. He has also fronted tailor made television shows for delegates, hosted award ceremonies, incentivising and motivational seminars, and much more. Educated at Merrylee Convent, John Ogilvie Hall and St Aloysius' College he went on to Glasgow University and Paisley College. Paul lives in London and is married to TV presenter Debbie Greenwood. They have two daughters, Annalie and Luisa, and no pets.
