Kate Sweetman
In a world in which leadership may be the key differentiator between organizations that win and those that don't, what kind of leadership actually works?

Kate Sweetman has dedicated her career to addressing this complex issue. Using her 20 years of experience as a consultant, writer and researcher, she has synthesized the lessons learned in various fields, and across companies, sectors, cultures and geographies to identify the essence of successful leadership for complex organizations in the 21st century. Her consulting approach works: for example, she and her team received the top prize for a leadership development program with practical impact for their work with US telecommunication giant Verizon (this high honor given by the American Society of Trainers and Developers). The definitive treatment of leadership can be found in Kate's book: now available in 14 languages, The Leadership Code: Five Rules to Lead By (coauthored with Dave Ulrich and Norm Smallwood; Harvard Business Press, 2009). Through her lectures and workshops, Kate addresses thousands of people around the globe each year in Asia, the Middle East, Europe, North Africa and the Americas. Kate has published in Forbes, The Times (of India), and Sloan Management Review. She has appeared on CNBC in both the US and India. She has been quoted in the Wall Street Journal (India) , the Business Standard, Outlook Business, DNA, Business Today, and Businessworld. She is a former editor at Harvard Business Review, where she worked with leading minds around issues of leadership and organizational development in the 21st century. The Times of London has designated Kate as an Emerging Guru for her writing and consulting on the topic of leadership. She also writes a popular blog on leadership for Fast Company, a highly respected innovation and technology magazine based in the US. She has shared the stage at various public events with Marshall Goldsmith, Condoleeza Rice, Dame Jenny Shipley (former Prime Minister of New Zealand), Nobel Laureate Eric Maskin and well-recognized HR and leadership expert Dave Ulrich. In addition to her corporate work, Kate has also focused time and attention on business and leadership in the developing world. She is currently a Visiting Scholar at MIT's Legatum Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, where she supports the development of young entrepreneurs who will launch for-profit technology-oriented businesses in the developing world (Asia, Africa, the Middle East and Latin America).
